The gondola base is 130 km (81 miles) west of Calgary via the Trans-Canada Highway. We pick you up at 8:00 AM from your Calgary hotel or YYC airport, giving you time to reach the summit when the morning light is clearest. Plan for a 9 to 10 hour full-day experience door to door.

We can pre-book the gondola ticket on your behalf and include it in your private tour price, or you can purchase at the base station. Pre-booking is strongly recommended during summer.

How long is the Banff Gondola ride?

The ascent takes about 8 minutes one way. Plan to spend 1.5 to 2 hours at the summit to walk the boardwalk and enjoy the views — longer if you have a meal at Sky Bistro.

Is the gondola wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The gondola cabins are wheelchair-accessible, as is the upper terminal and most of the summit boardwalk. There are also accessible viewing platforms.

What if it's cloudy at the summit on our private tour?

Cloud levels in the Rockies change quickly. We monitor weather and can shift your gondola visit earlier or later in the day. Even on overcast days, the experience above the trees is striking.

Can I combine the Banff Gondola with Lake Louise?

Yes — it makes for a long but rewarding day. We'd suggest gondola in the morning then Lake Louise in the afternoon, or vice versa.

Are there food options at the top of the gondola?
